Welcome to my new era! Whether you noticed or not, I recently have decided to switch up my antics and give my website and strategy a whole new makeover. Though living in the mountains (or now slightly down valley of them) provides stunning views and many outdoor activities and hobbies, it does not, however, provide the "city perks" that an artist might indulge in. Since beginning this art adventure, it has been a constant struggle to decide and figure out just how to acquire the prints themselves. I have experimented with different approaches tried to carry an inventory but have found that you then are stuck with some inventory that does not move and provides itself as a sunk cost instead. I have tried the dropshipping method but that made both my nerves and my costs skyrocket. Not only does it deprive me of the opportunity to check the quality of the print itself but also the chance to add my very own personal touch to the packaging itself before sending it off on its big adventure. This made me far too nervous and I eneded up spaztically intercepting the goods to repackage and send off to their final destination instead of practicing the intended "laissez-faire" approach that I initally thought I would be okay with. This doubled my postage and seemed to be fairly wasteful as far as resources. I knew that I would need to come up with a new solution and so here it is.
Welcome to my "limited" era. In an attempt to be able to continue hand packaging my prints and giving that personal thanks and touch I have decided to do limited releases of my art prints and apparel. With the absence of a local print shop, this will allow me to be able to order my high-quality prints, double check that they are up to standard and create my signature handmade packaging from repurposed materials.
If you have perused my website recently you will have noticed the changes in appearance. I have created a couple of different categories; my originals will always be available as they are in search of their forever home, my prints, however, will be released sporadically through-out the year. Each release will have a limited time frame for purchase before it is put back in the "Vault" to await its next release on "parole". All items on "parole" are available in either limited quantity or timeframe. Currently, I have some of the inventory that I ordered and have housed available in parole. I am still figuring a calendar and timeline for creating my "Print Drops" but will come up with more information on that once I have actually created the information.
My hope in doing this alteration is to allow for myself to have a personal touch on all orders that I receive, be able to quality check before sending orders out and to rest easier by having a little more control. I know that I will be creating a bit more work for myself but that is not for you to worry about because I would love to be overwhelmed by orders in all honesty! Eventually I will expand my offerings to include limited T -Shirts that will be single session releases, one time only. Snooze on the shirts, you my dear friend, lose. In a world where you can get anything and everything you want in the drop of a button, I am transporting you to a land where this will not be the case…though this land is still being discovered at the moment—stay tuned!
